John Kim

Youth Pastor

John is that “PK” (Preacher’s Kid) who, like the Prodigal Son, rebelled but returned to God in his early 30s, despite spending his entire youth in the church as his father’s right-hand man. As his father once preached, “Being born in a garage doesn’t mean you’re a car, so being born in a Christian home doesn’t mean you’re a Christian!” John’s prayer is that, through his own waywardness, he can help young people know their true purpose and trust God at an early age.

John earned a B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Dallas Baptist University. As a bi-vocational pastor, he works in corporate finance while also supporting his wife Sophia, who operates a poke restaurant in Frisco. They are blessed with two daughters, Chloe and Shiloh.

Favor Lee

Children’s Ministry Director

Favor has had the privilege of serving in children’s ministry since 2007 at Semihan Church, the mother church of BWC, where she has been a worship leader and small group teacher. Raised in a Christian family, her mother instilled the importance of faith in her from a young age, having personally encountered Jesus at 12. With this foundation, Favor understands the significance of nurturing and guiding children in their spiritual journey and is passionate about helping them develop a strong faith from an early age.
Favor holds both an M.S. and B.S. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a CPA by trade and currently works as the Director at a national wealth management firm. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys traveling around the globe and public speaking. She is happily married to her husband, Kevin, and together they are blessed with two children, Covenant and Precious. Favor is also passionate about giving back to the community, actively serving with the Texas Society of CPAs and 4word, an organization that helps Christian women thrive in the workplace.

Jon Choi

Ministry Advisor/ Resident Scholar

Jon is a Professor of Theological Studies at Dallas Baptist University, Texas. He serves as the Director of M.A. in Christian Ministry and M.A. in Worship Studies. He served as the Lead Pastor at Global Harvest Church in Carrollton, Texas, from 2002 to 2016. He received a B.S. in Industrial Technology from San Jose State University, and an M. Div. and a Ph. D. in Old Testament from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a member of Institute of Biblical Research and Evangelical Theological Society. Passionate about teaching and preaching, he has taught and spoken at Bible Schools, conferences, and seminars in more than 40 countries around the globe.

Praising God through music is one of Jon’s passions, and he has toured extensively as a guitarist with praise bands such as Living Praise (Christ For The Nations Institute), Proclaim, and Eight Hour Shift (EHS), an alternative Christian band. He is also a board member of All For Worship (Korea), New Ministry (Korea), and JAMA Global. Jon is married to Janet, and they have two grown daughters, Danielle and Andrea.
